The GEWDC Resource Center provides members and Alliance stakeholders with access to a wide range of Value-Added and cost effective programs designed to help improve operational Productivity, Efficiency and Effectiveness while reducing operating costs and enhancing PROFITABILITY. Education and Staff Development – GEWDC is part of a collaborative network of some of the world’s finest education and training development organizations. This network provides access to thousands of exceptional courses and curriculums utilizing the most effective Learning Management Systems available. Specialized programs allow courses to be custom developed for the unique need of industry and employers at reasonable costs. Both state and local governments provide education and skilled trades training grants which help employers expand their staff development budgets.
The initial step in any staff or student development is the creation of a comprehensive Career Planning System Portfolio. We have teamed with industry leader Kuder Corporation to provide this dynamic resource. Mentor / Coaching – This is a very important factor in the development and MASTERY of needed personal and professional skills is access to a support and resource group of individuals who are willing and able to aid others in their pursuit of excellence. e-Learning - Lifetime learning is a concept which continues to grow rapidly. Individuals at all levels can improve their performance and skills with continuous learning experiences. Legislative Advocacy – GEWDC is an active part of several growing business collaboration networks working with elected officials and staff at local, regional, state and national levels. Resource associates of the various GEWDC Industry Alliances work diligently to educate politicians and bureaucrats to the special needs of the various industry sectors. Other issues communicated include the impact of increasing tax burdens and the burdensome regulations on the cost of business operation.
GEWDC members also have full membership privileges in the Inland Valleys Employer Advisory Council (IVEAC) which includes the Management Hotline and Legislative Council resources. The IVEAC is part of the California Employer Advisory Council with over 50 chapters throughout the state and representing the interests of over 20,000 employers. The monthly Legislative Action Report provides members with information on pending and newly passed legislation. The Management Hotline provides free counseling and advisory support from experienced labor law attorney, Bruce Matlock.
Immigration Law Support Resources - The Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have developed the comprehensive ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers (IMAGE) support system. This no-cost program is designed to minimize vulnerabilities that help illegal aliens gain unlawful employment. The goal of the program is to assist employers in targeted sectors develop a more secure and stable workforce and to enhance awareness of fraudulent documentation and training. This “Best Practices” counseling approach helps employers use the E-Verify system and other tools including the proper completion of I-9 registration employment registration forms.
The effective use of the IMAGE program can also contribute to improved national security by preventing terrorists and criminals to gain access to critical infrastructure worksites.
